3.30.00pm GMT Tue 26th Feb 2008

Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon & Radnorshire Kirsty Williams has officially handed over a £168,275 cheque awarded to the Bracken Trust by the Big Lottery Fund.

The grant, which is to be spread over 3 years, will fund the "Strengthening Networks Project" for the Trust to further develop their work within local communities. The trust is a Llandrindod Wells based voluntary organisation which provides support for people and families affected by cancer and other long term illnesses.

Kirsty Williams said: "I was thrilled to be asked to handover this cheque. The Trust as worked very hard to get this money and I know it will continue to work hard to spend it in the most efficient and effective way possible.

"The trust provides phenomenal support to individuals with cancer and their families and this money will allow them to reach out further into surrounding communities.

"I congratulate them on their hard work so far and wish them the best of luck for their future projects."
